Celebrating a Century: The Grand Circus Parade and Open-Air Circus Show at Place du Palais – Saturday, 13 January

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Prince Rainier III’s birth and the 50th anniversary of the inception of the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival in 1974—now an iconic event in the circus world—a grand parade and an Open-Air Circus Show are set to captivate the city.

This grand spectacle on Saturday, 13 January 2024, will feature adorned floats, costumed artists, elephants, horses, the festival orchestra, and lively clowns providing musical accompaniment for the Parade. The festivities will commence with a tourist train departing from Chapiteau de Fontvieille at 2 pm, arriving at the Place du Palais at 2:30 pm.

The Place du Palais will host a lavish buffet for the elephants, accompanied by a unique open-air show that promises to enchant audiences of all ages. A highlight of the performance includes a breathtaking tightrope walk, where an artist will traverse the Place du Palais at a height of 25 meters over a distance of 80 meters.

Adding to the excitement, a group of artists from the United States will showcase the circus’s star attraction—the flying trapeze, a first-ever performance in Europe. These awe-inspiring acts will unfold as the festival officially begins on Friday, 19 January 2024.
