Monaco Named Europe’s Top Travel Destination for 2025
The Principality of Monaco has been officially named Best European Destination 2025 by European Best Destinations, a prestigious tourism promotion organization in partnership with the European Commission. This highly coveted title reinforces Monaco’s reputation as a world-class travel destination, celebrated for its luxury, culture, and exceptional quality of life.
A Prestigious Recognition
Each year, European Best Destinations selects the most attractive locations across Europe and invites travelers worldwide to vote for their favorite. In 2025, over one million people participated in the selection process, ultimately placing Monaco at the top of the rankings. The official European Best Destinations website, which attracts more than six million visitors annually, ensures extensive media exposure, with coverage from major outlets such as Forbes USA, Condé Nast Traveler, and Yahoo.
After securing second place in 2024, Monaco has now ascended to first place, becoming the first French-speaking destination to win this distinction since Bordeaux in 2015. Travelers from over 170 countries participated in the vote, captivated by Monaco’s elegance, vibrant atmosphere, and breathtaking scenery.
This recognition provides Monaco with a significant opportunity to enhance its global appeal:
- Increased visibility in leading media platforms, showcasing its unique charm.
- A strong appeal to high-end travelers, particularly from the United States (42% of votes) and the United Kingdom (34% of votes), reaffirming its status as a prime luxury and sustainable tourism destination.
For several years, Monaco’s Directorate of Tourism has collaborated closely with European Best Destinations to increase the Principality’s global visibility. This partnership includes:
- A stronger presence on the European Best Destinations website, which welcomes over six million visitors annually.
- Media exposure on influential international platforms.
- The use of the “Best European Destination” label by Monaco and its tourism partners, including hotels, restaurants, and attractions.
Guy Antognelli, Director of Tourism and Congresses, expressed his pride in this achievement, stating:
“This award is a testament to the daily efforts of tourism professionals, hospitality staff, guides, merchants, public services, and attraction operators. It highlights the impact of innovative initiatives implemented across Monaco, as well as recent renovations in many partner establishments, all aimed at maintaining an exceptional level of quality and service.”
As Monaco celebrates this remarkable achievement, the distinction further solidifies its status as a premier travel destination, setting new standards for luxury and excellence in European tourism.
