Monaco to Turn Pink for a Weekend of Golf, Philanthropy and Women’s Health

Pink Ribbon Monaco will bring together sport, philanthropy and one of the Principality’s most recognisable awareness campaigns on 2 and 3 October, with the inaugural Monaco Invitational golf tournament, a black-tie gala at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo and the annual illumination of Monaco in pink.

Monaco is preparing to turn pink once again as Pink Ribbon Monaco marks its 16th annual illumination campaign with a weekend dedicated to breast and gynaecological cancer awareness, prevention, early detection and locally based women’s health initiatives.

Held under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco, Honorary President of Pink Ribbon Monaco, the programme will begin on Friday, 2 October, with a private opening cocktail at the Hôtel Metropole Monte-Carlo.

The following day will bring together the inaugural Monaco Invitational at Royal Mougins Golf Club and an evening of philanthropy in Monte-Carlo, culminating in the Pink Ribbon Monaco Gala at the Hôtel de Paris.

Funds raised during the weekend will support Pink Ribbon Monaco’s work in awareness and prevention as well as women’s health initiatives connected with the Princess Grace Hospital Centre. A particular focus is being placed on research and screening relating to lobular breast cancer, a form of the disease that can be especially challenging to detect. Pink Ribbon Monaco’s official programme confirms that funds raised through the Gala will contribute to research into lobular breast cancer detection supported by the Princess Grace Hospital.

Monaco illuminated in pink

Founded in 2011 by Natasha Frost-Savio, Pink Ribbon Monaco became the first association in the region to illuminate Monaco’s landmarks in pink as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

What began as a symbolic local initiative has since grown into one of the Principality’s most recognisable annual demonstrations of solidarity around women’s health.

On 3 October at 7.45pm, Casino Square will once again become the centre of the campaign as its surrounding façades are illuminated in pink. Twenty-four institutions across the Principality are expected to participate, transforming Monaco’s skyline into a collective visual message of awareness and support.

“For more than fifteen years, Pink Ribbon Monaco has worked to place prevention at the heart of women’s health — promoting education, healthier lifestyles, physical activity and the importance of screening and early detection,” says Natasha Frost-Savio, Founder and President of Pink Ribbon Monaco.

“Our aim is to give women, their daughters and future generations the knowledge and tools to reduce their risk and act early. What began in 2011 as a simple but powerful gesture of awareness has grown into a Principality-wide call to action: illuminating Monaco in pink to encourage vigilance, informed choices and lasting change.”

The first Monaco Invitational

Sport will take centre stage on the morning of Saturday, 3 October, with the inaugural Monaco Invitational at Royal Mougins Golf Club.

Designed as an intimate tournament combining competitive golf with fundraising, the event will be limited to 18 teams and a maximum of 72 players.

Participants will arrive from 8.30am ahead of a 9.30am shotgun start, with the tournament played in a shamble format. Hôtel Metropole Monte-Carlo joins the inaugural edition as a golf partner.

The tournament will be directed by Cameron Avery, the Australian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and touring member of Tame Impala, who is also an accomplished golfer.

His involvement will continue later that evening when he joins guests in Monte-Carlo as a special musical guest of the Gala, creating an unexpected link between the worlds of sport, music and philanthropy.

Pink Ribbon Monaco currently lists both the Monaco Invitational at Royal Mougins Golf Club and the Gala at the Salle Empire among its principal events for 3 October.

A black-tie Gala at the Hôtel de Paris

From 7pm, the focus will move back to Monte-Carlo as guests gather at the Salle Empire of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo for the Pink Ribbon Monaco Gala.

Following the 7.45pm illumination of Casino Square, the evening will continue with dinner, entertainment and a live charity auction in one of Monaco’s most historic settings.

The event will also feature music by Samantha Flores, the South of France-based DJ and producer known for sets combining deep house, organic rhythms and melodic electronic influences.

A live auction conducted by New York-based auctioneer C.K. Swett will offer a collection of experiences inspired by Monaco’s heritage, hospitality and sporting culture.

Among the headline lots is an opportunity to create and name a bespoke cocktail alongside the mixology team at the legendary Bar Américain at the Hôtel de Paris.

The winning bidder will see the creation become part of the story of one of Monaco’s most iconic bars, with the experience also including an overnight stay at the five-star Hôtel de Paris and dinner at the Michelin-starred Le Grill.

The official Gala programme also highlights a wider selection of charity lots ranging from Monaco Grand Prix experiences to art, design and collectors’ pieces, with proceeds supporting women’s health and cancer research in the Principality.

Those unable to attend the Gala will also be able to participate in the auction remotely by requesting an absentee bidding form from Pink Ribbon Monaco.

Fifteen years of action in Monaco

Beyond its high-profile events, Pink Ribbon Monaco has spent more than fifteen years promoting education around breast and gynaecological cancers, encouraging screening and early detection and supporting locally based medical initiatives.

Its annual Pink Ribbon Walk and October illuminations have brought together thousands of residents, institutions, businesses and visitors over the years, helping to make women’s health a visible part of public conversation in the Principality.

The association is also a member of Monaco’s Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights and works alongside public institutions, healthcare professionals, businesses and members of the community.

For Pink Ribbon Monaco, the October programme is ultimately about turning visibility into action — using the symbolic power of illuminating the Principality to encourage prevention, education and earlier detection.
