MLD Association Participates in the Girù de Natale 2024
The Monaco Liver Disorder (MLD) association, in partnership with the Monaco Firefighters and the Prince’s Carabiniers for over fourteen years, proudly took part in the 2024 edition of the Girù de Natale, held on December 15th.
For the second consecutive year, a team of four adults, all liver and kidney transplant recipients, ran under the MLD banner to raise awareness for organ donation. This year also marked the first participation of children who are transplant recipients or in remission from cancer, running in MLD colors.

In total, 30 firefighters and 10carabiniers also joined the race, running in support of MLD and its mission.
In the “Athletic Awakening and Poussins Race” category (children born between 2014 and 2018), the participants included:
- Samy Bouberrima (10 years old), a bone marrow transplant recipient, and Cassiel Segura (9 years old), who ran using a joëlette (specialized mobility chair), both from Nice.

In the “Benjamins and Minimes Race” category (children born between 2010 and 2013):
- Ryan Coudret (12 years old) and Anna Jolibois (13 years old), both in remission from cancer and residents of Fréjus.
Joining them for support were Anna’s mother, Sandrine Bogaert, and her healthy brother, Martin.
In the “10 km Race” category (open to Cadet and older participants), the adult competitors included:
- Emmanuel Gastaud (44 years old), a kidney transplant recipient from Cagnes-sur-Mer.
- Adeline Billal (38 years old), Véronique Dupras (58 years old), and Lionel Maurice (54 years old), all liver transplant recipients from Château-Arnoux and Harmonville, respectively.
“The Girù de Natale has become an important event not only for running enthusiasts but also for those who want to combine sports with social commitment in support of sick children and organ donation,” emphasized Carla Shechter, Executive President of Monaco Liver Disorder, whose Honorary President is Princess Charlene of Monaco.
