Monaco Authorities Encourage Residents to Get Vaccinated Against Seasonal Flu Ahead of Winter
As the winter season approaches and ahead of the year-end festive period, the Department of Social Affairs and Health is reminding Monegasques, residents, and social security beneficiaries in the Principality of Monaco of the importance of getting vaccinated against seasonal influenza.
The Princely Government emphasizes that vaccination against the flu remains one of the most effective preventive measures, even after virus circulation has already begun. Vaccination significantly reduces the risk of severe illness, complications, and transmission—particularly among the most vulnerable populations, including people aged over 65, individuals with chronic illnesses, those living with obesity, and pregnant women.
In addition to vaccination, health authorities stress the continued importance of adopting simple but effective protective measures to limit the spread of viruses, such as:
-
Regular handwashing
-
Frequent ventilation of enclosed spaces
-
Wearing a mask in case of flu-like symptoms
-
Using single-use tissues
-
Avoiding close contact with vulnerable individuals when feeling unwell
Vaccines adapted to the circulating strains are currently available in pharmacies throughout the Principality. Individuals may be vaccinated directly at the pharmacy or obtain the vaccine and consult their general practitioner or a registered nurse.
Finally, the Department of Social Affairs and Health reminds the public that influenza vaccination is fully covered for social security beneficiaries in Monaco.
