The Tourist and Convention Authority Sums Up The 2023 Summer Season In Monaco

As the summer season is coming to an end, it’s time to say goodbye to it and summarize the year. The Tourist and Convention Authority and its director, Guy Antognelli have done just that in this year’s review of Monaco’s summer season.

2023 was definitely a good year with an occupancy rate of 75% in July and 72% in August, despite it being lower than the rates in 2019. Monaco continues to impress its visitors with its unique size, history, consistency in what’s on offer and a high level of excellence in all corners of the city, from its shops and restaurants to its hotels. The municipality’s private partners always aim to make sure that everyone can appreciate the quality and excellence of everything the city has to offer, no matter what its visitors choose to see or do.

Guests to Monaco come to the city from all over the world, mostly from France, United States, Great Britain and Italy. The past few years have also seen an increase in visitors from outside Europe, especially from the Middle East, when compared with the numbers in 2019.

Guy Antognelli, the Director of the Tourist and Convention Authority predicts a bright future for the municipality as visitors from more countries continue to come to Monaco. In the past few years the city has seen more guests from Asia, with customers from Japan coming back this year and visitors from China being at almost 40% of their level of outbound tourism in 2019. Another growing market consists of tourists from Australia, with more of them visiting the city than in 2019.

With the summer season now over, the Tourist and Convention Authority is now focusing the autumn period and the “big-business” tourism period, including events like the Monaco Yacht Show, Les Assises security convention, Luxe Pack, Sportel, etc. All of these are major events that are hugely popular with guests to Monaco, with tickets for them already selling out and some of them attract more participants than in previous years. With applications for the next three years in 2024, 2025 and 2026 already pouring in, Monaco’s popularity as a venue for tourism, as well as business conferences and webinars remains strong.
