Todd Krim’s Life, Career, and Future Plans: TIMES Monaco’s Exclusive Interview with the Philanthropic Legend

Todd Krim is a renowned philanthropist, known for connecting celebrities with countless charities and foundations all over the globe. Starting with a career in law, he left the industry to pursue the surprising avenue of philanthropic work. Ever since then he has established partnerships between numerous non-profit organisations and celebrities, advised hundreds of businesses on their social impact strategies and produced widely-acclaimed charity events. Now we get to dive into his work and his plans for the future in a candid interview with the man himself.

Todd’s story is truly unique: he has built a successful law practice and after some time left it behind to pursue a completely different sphere of work, philanthropy. Despite this shift, he says that his lifestyle hasn’t changed much, “It’s probably more interesting at least than it would have been if I was a lawyer. I probably would’ve been doing different things”.

Todd is deeply motivated by the desire to help others, “to me it’s never been about the money. I’ve never been motivated by money or fame or anything other than wanting to make a difference. What I enjoy most is helping other people make a difference”. This is evident throughout his every project, from helping the Kardashians to organise a turkey giveaway that gave everyone who needed it a turkey for Thanksgiving, to his latest Night of a 100 Stars event in Monaco.

The Night of a 100 Stars is a truly unique event that gathers together celebrities, philanthropists and different entertainment figures and raises funds for Make-A-Wish International. It was first opened on the 16th of June at the Mediterranean Garden at the Monaco Bay Hotel. The evening was co-hosted by Maxime Dereymez, the winner of the Dancing With The Stars contest and the model and TV personality, Victoria Silvstedt and featured Nade, the charming contestant from The Voice France 2023, as well as many other guests from the world of entertainment from all across the globe. Todd especially enjoyed organising and being at this incredible celebration, “I do have to thank the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, because they are the ones that gave us the opportunity to have a presence here and they extended an invitation to their talent to come, which was really wonderful. And I also want to thank Maxime, he and his artistic direction also made the event fabulous”.

Todd regularly uses his unique skills in analysing charities, evaluating them, knowing how to really make a difference with the donations and how to assess the impact that that will have. He gets hired by different associations, individuals, families and companies to help them with different elements of their businesses. For example: when helping companies he helps them to determine what their social responsibility approach needs to be and what they should focus on. If they already know what their focus is, he helps them to decide how to best bring more attention to what they do. He truly enjoys connecting people to different charitable organisations and turning expectations of philanthropy upside down: from a boring activity to a fun and enjoyable experience. “I always say it’s like party with a purpose. That’s what I’ve been doing for twenty-five years. I’m putting the fun back in fundraising”.

The real benefit of donating to charities as he believes, is being able to actually get involved in their initiatives. A lot of people donated money to the Make-A-Wish International at his recent Night of a 100 Stars event in Monaco. Todd however, is confident that it would be much better if everyone who donated their money to the foundation also volunteered to help one of the Wish children to get their dreams. “Probably everyone that donated is able to help a Wish child in some way. I’m sure there’s a Wish child that maybe always wanted to go on a cruise or always wanted to go on a private plane or wanted to go to the ballet, go to the Oscars and these are certain privileges a lot of people in Monaco have. So how cool would it be if someone in Monaco could not just donate money, but make the wish possible. And I think the feeling you’ll get from that will be just as great, if not greater than making a donation”.

One of his projects had him helping the Kardashian family to give back to their community. Kris Jenner became concerned that some people couldn’t afford turkey, so they couldn’t celebrate Thanksgiving. So Todd put together a turkey giveaway that the whole Kardashian family volunteered for and gave it away to everyone who needed it. Later on, Kylie Jenner became a brand ambassador for one of Todd’s clients, “Smile Train”. She created a lip kit and donated a 100% of the proceeds to it, which raised half of a million dollars and helped thirteen hundred children get free cleft surgery. After the surgery, she visited the children she helped with her donation in the hospital.

Other than the beautiful scenery and the city’s cafes, Todd is very impressed by the people of Monaco and their passion for helping others. He met H.S.H. Prince Albert II at one of his charity events and was very impressed by the Prince’s commitment to the environment.  He said that he wants to get involved in the environmental causes in Monaco himself.

Todd is especially fond of walking around the city, seeing its mountains and hills, exploring and getting up to the top of them. In his earlier years, he used to live in California, so the verdant landscapes of Monaco remind him of being back home. In the city he likes the Hermitage and café de Paris. Some of his favourite places are the Amazonico Monte-Carlo restaurant and the Sass café.

Looking ahead, Todd wants to continue growing the Night of a 100 Stars event in Monaco. “This was the inaugural Make-A-Wish Night of a 100 Stars and maybe next year it’ll be Night of 200 Stars…or 150, let’s move slowly”. He’s also planning to produce similar charity events all throughout Europe, with some of them already happening in London and Paris. Todd’s unique story and achievements continue to truly inspire the young people of today to make a difference and to really get involved in making the world a better place.
