Monaco Launches New “On-Call Doctors” Service to Strengthen Nighttime Medical Care

Backed by physicians of the Principality and driven by the Princely Government, the new “Médecins de Garde Monaco” service officially begins operations today, marking an important milestone in improving continuity of medical care in Monaco.

The day before the launch, on September 30, a symbolic handover ceremony was held for the keys to a vehicle donated by Mr. Jean-Marc Porceddu. The car will be used by on-call doctors, with the event attended by H.E. Mr. Christophe Mirmand, Minister of State, and Mr. Christophe Robino, Government Counselor–Minister of Health and Social Affairs.

Nighttime Home Visits, 7 Days a Week

This new service complements the medical coverage already provided by city doctors during the day. It is specifically designed to improve access to non-emergency medical care between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Patients in need of a home consultation during the night can simply dial 116 117 to be connected with an on-call physician.

The nonprofit organization Médecins de Garde Monaco (MGM) will operate the service, with its doctors using a dedicated electric vehicle to ensure mobility and efficiency in providing nighttime care across the Principality.

According to Mr. Christophe Robino, “The launch of Médecins de Garde Monaco addresses a strong expectation among residents: the ability to receive prompt medical care at night. This service represents a new step forward in public health policy and service quality in the Principality.”
