Monaco Launches New Public Campaign for Early Lung Cancer Screening
Lung cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide, with the vast majority of cases linked to smoking. However, early detection can dramatically improve treatment outcomes, increasing the likelihood of remission and recovery.
Under the leadership of Mr Christophe ROBINO, Minister of Health and Social Affairs, the Monaco Screening Centre is launching a new public health campaign dedicated to the early detection of lung cancer.
The initiative aims to encourage eligible residents to take part in a free, painless screening that could make a life-saving difference.
Who Can Take Part
If you are between 50 and 80 years old and covered by Monaco’s national health insurance scheme, you will soon receive a personal letter inviting you to complete a short eligibility questionnaire.
Based on your responses, you may be invited to book an appointment at the Monaco Screening Centre for a low-dose chest CT scan.
To qualify for screening, participants must:
-
Be a current or former smoker, having smoked the equivalent of at least one pack per day for 20 years, and
-
Not currently be under treatment or monitoring for a lung-related illness.
The lung cancer screening test is non-invasive, quick, and completely free of charge. It involves a low-dose chest CT scan performed without injection, designed to detect early signs of cancer before symptoms appear.
By taking part in this campaign, you are playing an active role in the fight against lung cancer. Early detection saves lives — yours could be one of them.
For more information or to learn about eligibility, please contact the Monaco Screening Centre once you receive your invitation letter.
